The Bioinformatics Centre, Biotech City is a sub DIC centre of DBT under BTIS programme, was originally set up in November 2001, at Indian Institute of Technology (IITR), Lucknow as a networking site, the centre was moved to Biotech Park in 2007. The major objective of the Bioinformatics Centre is to showcase the R&D and the academic strength of Lucknow in the area of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and act as nodal point for industry - academia - U.P. Government.

The Centre is extensively involved in popularizing the application of Bioinformatics in R&D by providing training to the Scientists/Research Scholars/ Students.

The Centre is working in close network with the neighboring Academic and R&D institutions to provide information to industries/ entrepreneurs/ farmers regarding technologies, facilities and expertise available with them in the area of Biotechnology.
